Established over half a century ago by the parish community in 1953 and originally staffed by the Religious Sisters of Charity. St. Cornelius Catholic School remains committed to providing a challenging academic and Catholic faith based education to a diverse group of students who matriculate from our school well prepared for success at the high school level. St. Cornelius became a child centered learning community, whose philosophy of educating the whole person permeates our school to day.
St. Cornelius graduates go on to numerous advanced academic public and private high school programs, including St. Joseph of Lakewood, St. John Bosco of Bellflower, Loyola of Los Angeles, St. Anthony of Long Beach, Connelly of Anaheim, Rosary of Fullerton, Servite of Anaheim, and Mater Dei of Santa Ana, to name just a few. Our student body represents a strong diversity in ethnicity and socio-economic backgrounds. We draw from neighborhoods throughout the City of Long Beach and beyond.
St. Cornelius is a community in every sense of the word;
* in our commitment to our students we are privileged to serve,
* in our dedicated and talented faculty and staff,
* in our partnership with parents who actively participate in our school
and parish activities and fundraisers.
We invite you to join us at our annual open house, which is provided as an opportunity for parents and children to explore our school and to see first hand what we have been doing in each classroom. The classrooms will be open and the teachers will be here to welcome you. This is a great opportunity for you to visit our school and see the illustrations of learning within our children's classwork. Current parents are also asked to come and to allow their children to showcase their accomplishments. (Open House Details)
